On Her Majesty's Secret Service

The aluminum-covered revolving restaurant "Piz Gloria" on the Schilthorn was used in the filming of a few key scenes in the James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". There is a permanent exhibition that reminds one of this fact.

James Bond Mountain

Location of Schilthorn"My name is Bond, James Bond", said the secret agent, before he sped down the mountain in a spectacular wild chase, filmed by the fashion mogul Willy Bogner, who drove backwards with the camera in front of him. These action scenes are no longer to be seen live on the Schilthorn, but they can be viewed at the exhibition in the revolving restaurant "Piz Gloria". And the backdrop is still exactly the same: the Schilthorn, which is 2,970 meters high, is still the highest peak of the Bernese pre-Alps and offers a fantastic panoramic view of the mountain landscape. Modernized aerial cable cars lead to "Piz Gloria", where over 50 kilometers of prepared ski-runs and a magnificent Alpine hiking region await visitors in the summer.

The journey starts at Stechelberg where you take the aerial cable car (via Mürren and Birg) to the top of Schilthorn – Piz Gloria at 2970 m. Enjoy the beautiful view of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau (UNESCO World Heritage) and on more than 200 other summits, innumerable glaciers and lakes from the big terrace. Or experience a breathtaking 360° panorama from the revolving restaurant Piz Gloria.
