Itinerary
Day 1 Interlaken/Grindelwald
Arrive in Interlaken or Grindelwald by train in 1st class from any Swiss border or airport/rail station.
Overnight in Interlaken or Grindelwald.
Day 2 Jungfraujoch Excursion
Depart Interlaken or Grindelwald by train to Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe (3454m above sea level). Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier, the longest glacier in the Alps. Overnight in Interlaken or Grindelwald. (B)
Day 3
Interlaken/Grindelwald - Zermatt
Travel through the wonderful Bernese Oberland to the Valais. Either via the Lötschberg base tunnel directly to Visp and further to Zermatt, or by the Lötschberger – the new air-conditioned train with big windows, using the traditional scenic Lötschberg Line, passing the Kander Viaduct, the helical tunnel around the Felsenburg and the descent to Brig with the view onto the Rhone Valley and continue your journey to Zermatt. Zermatt is a world without cars. Electric-cars and horse-drawn sleighs are the only transport allowed.
Overnight in Zermatt. (B)
Day 4 Gornergrat Excursion
Today travel by cogwheel rail to the Gornergrat for panoramic views of the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and other snow-capped peaks rising 4000m above sea level. Overnight in Zermatt. (B)
Day 5 Depart Zermatt
After breakfast, depart Zermatt by rail to any Swiss border or airport rail station to your next destination, or alternatively extend your stay
in Switzerland. (B)
